What is a transaction?

A single point in time where you request and receive payment from a customer.

There is no limit to the number of line items that can be contained in a transaction.

There is no limit to the value that can be associated with a transaction.

A transaction cannot happen over multiple “times” or payment types - it happens on a specific date, time, and is limited to one payment type.
Credit card processing fees
- Yottled’s credit card fees are 2.9% plus $0.30 regardless of how the credit card is entered on the Yottled platform - including but not limited to:
- Physical payment terminal
- Stored credit cards on file
- Manually entered credit cards
- Membership processing
What about other forms of payment?
- Yottled charges $0.99 transaction fee plus applicable credit card fees to credit card based transactions only.
How many line items can I have in a transaction?
As many as you need. Yottled’s $0.99 cost is per transaction - not per line item. An order that has $1000 with 10 items will still be $0.99 for the entire transaction.
If a customer uses a gift card for the entire transaction, do I pay a $0.99 fee?
No. You only pay the $0.99 if you collect payment from the customer.
If a customer uses a gift card for part of the transaction, do I pay a $0.99 fee to collect the balance?
Yes. Each time you collect payment from a customer is a separate transaction.
A customer paid for an offering and now wants to leave a tip as a separate transaction. Do I pay a $0.99 fee for the tip?
No. This is exempted from the $0.99 transaction fee. You will however always pay credit card fees when applicable.
Do membership or package “credits” cause a $0.99 fee?
No. There is no exchange of currency. If the customer purchases something during checkout which causes an exchange of currency, there will be a Yottled fee.
A customer partially paid for an offering. Is it considered a transaction to collect the balance?
Yes. Each time you collect payment from a customer is a separate transaction.
A customer is purchasing a gift card. What fees do I pay?
You’ll pay the standard fees that are applicable. The $0.99 Yottled transaction fee plus credit card fees whenever applicable.
When a customer redeems the gift card, you’ll only pay the Yottled transaction fee and applicable credit card fees if the amount owed surpasses the amount on the gift card. The exception is a tip. If the customer pays for the entirety of a service with a gift card and then wants to leave a tip, the tip is exempted from the $0.99 transaction fee.
Do I pay a $0.99 fee on physical product only sales?
Yes - however for customers transacting in volumes over $1,000,000 in a rolling 12 month period on physical products we offer custom price breaks. Email us at hello@yottled.com and we’d be happy to discuss more.
Pushing the fees to your customer
When you push the fees to your customer, they will cover the $0.99 Yottled transaction fee and the credit card fees. This can be done by via Payment Settings found in Sales → Settings
💡 Due to regulations on payroll, your business will always pay the credit card fee on tips
